5 Montreal restaurants actor and comedian Eric Wareheim has been raving about in the city
The famous foodie, known for Tim & Eric and 'Master of None,' is in town!

Pasta dish from a Montreal restaurant. Right: Actor, comedian and cookbook author Eric Wareheim.
Eric Wareheim — who you may recognize from cult comedy duo Tim & Eric or Netflix's Master of None — is not only a comedian and actor, but also a known foodie.
He's the author of bestselling cookbook FOODHEIM: A Culinary Adventure, is reportedly working on a new book documenting steakhouses across the U.S. and is one of the winemakers behind Las Jaras Wines. His Instagram account looks more like a love letter to food, addressed to his 461K followers, the bio for which reads: "Top Food Blog™️."
Now he's in our city — wining, dining and raving about his experiences at Montreal restaurants.
Of course, Montrealers know that we live in an incredible food city. But it's still always nice to get external validation. So here's a round-up of everywhere Wareheim has eaten so far and what he's had to say about the local cuisine.
Joe Beef
Address: 2491, rue Notre-Dame O. (Little Burgundy)
Eric Wareheim says:
"Returned to one of my (and everyone else’s) favourite food cities: MONTREAL. We head immediately to the source. The mothership. The iconic @joebeef. The spot that inspired a movement and it’s hitting 11/10 still. Bravo mes amis!
Lobster Spaghetti, Canadian Sea meat, cheese tarts and fries from heaven. Oh, some casual wines someone found off the list. ❤️"
L'Express
Address: 3927, rue Saint-Denis (Plateau Mont-Royal)
Eric Wareheim says:
"I met a beautiful Canadian man who ordered his confit de canard on a bed of perfectly cooked fries and aioli. I followed suit. I am happy. I am pleased. I am satiated. Damn @restaurantlexpress. So delighted to have met you. The rotary phone. The black and white group shots. The EVERYTHING. ❤️"
Ma Poule Mouillée
Address: 969, rue Rachel E. (Plateau Mont-Royal)
Eric Wareheim says:
"🔥🔥Portuguese Power 🔥🔥
Incredible spit-fired rotisserie chicken with taters and chorizo poutine. This grill is sent from heaven."

Cabane à Sucre Au Pied de Cochon

Eric Wareheim says:
"Sugar Shack in the woods! @cabaneaupieddecochon the real deal. The maple syrup. The hunks of foie. The wine. Extreme happiness. Thx for having us. ❤️🔥"
Lester's Deli
Address: 1057, av. Bernard
Eric Wareheim says:
"Lester’s in Montreal. A perfect place for smoked meat and poutine. In fact it wins my top 'tine for this trip. It was glorious and I take my 'tine very seriously."
St-Viateur Bagel
Address:
- Flagship: 263, rue Saint-Viateur O.
- Bakery: 158, rue Saint-Viateur O.
- Café: 1127, av. Mont-Royal E.
- More locations outside of the city centre.
Eric Wareheim says:
"The first time I had this bagel was 10 years ago after a Tim and Eric show. We performed the night before and I gave my hotel key to a Troy named Chloe Wisenheimer. It was early in our relationship but the trust and respect were very strong. Even though her friend trolled me that evening. Such a troll but I respected the effort. Anyways, chloe demanded I have a Montreal Bagel before I go. She woke up early, got me warm bagel, opened the hotel room door, and jammed that bagel in my mouth while I was sleeping. All consensual. All perfect. There were no words spoken. She smiled and left me with the remains. And it was truly beyond. That act solidified our friendship forever but also opened my heart and stomach to the deliciousness of that city.
This trip she DEMANDED I get a bagel directly out of the oven, get a tub of cream cheese, and do a dipper doodle. I of course did what I was told and it moved me to tears. Warm and slightly crisp shell with a soft and flavorful core. The size and texture are different than what we have in the states. And I fell in love all over again. Thank you bagel. Thank you Troy.
Thank you @chloewise_ I just wish I could have hugged your momma mia after."
Bonus: Boulangerie Cheskie
Boulangerie Cheskie aka Cheskie's in Montreal.
Address: 359, rue Bernard O.
While Cheskie's didn't make Wareheim's grid, he did feel compelled to give the well-loved Jewish bakery a shoutout in his stories. The caption? "Some legit Babka."
