Some Montreal menus are getting a fizzy lift with new Jarritos-inspired eats. Over a dozen local restaurants have created a special dish incorporating one of the flavours of the fruity Mexican soda.

From May 3 to June 14, Montrealers can sample the special creations across the city as part of a limited-time event, called the Jarritos Food Crawl. You can try everything from mochi donuts coated in a tangy soda glaze to reinvented fried chicken sandwiches and a boldly seasoned Mexican poutine.

Over five weeks you can work your way through 19 quirky dishes that each have a hint of the unexpected. At Jukebox Burgers et Bar Laitiers, the "JBB Smashburger" ($18.95) is amped up with a Jarritos-infused sauce, mingling with cheddar, caramelized onions, and two beef patties, all sandwiched in a potato bun.

La Panzeria on Rue Saint-Denis is serving up the "Focaccia Diavolaccia" ($27) with spicy soppressata, buffalo stracciatella and a fiery drizzle of spicy olive oil, with a sprinkle of roasted almonds for crunch. Meanwhile, Segreta Pizza Al Taglio offers a slice of its "Bomba Cup & Crisp Burrata Hot Honey" ($12.50/slice), with jalapeños, cup and crisp pepperoni, creamy Burrata and hot honey.

Mintar’s "Maple Glazed Halloumi Topped French Toast" ($15) pairs thick, fluffy French toast with a sweetly caramelized slice of halloumi. It's a creative clash of flavours that surprisingly works, kind of like the "Oxtail Empanadas" ($19) from Tropikal filled with slow-cooked meat marinated in Caribbean spices and Jarritos, creating a juicy filling.

Here's where you can find these and other intriguing Jarritos-accented dishes:
