If witnessing the total solar eclipse in Montreal felt like a spiritual awakening, you're not alone. While Montreal will be able to view a partial eclipse in 2025, our chances of catching a cosmic moment similar to April 8 won't happen for a hot minute.

So, why wait to feel alive again? While it won't hit the same, Montreal sunsets are bound to stir up similar emotions, and there's one spot in particular that you're bound to fall in love with.

Parc René-Lévesque in Montreal's Lachine borough is one of the ultimate spots in Montreal to watch the sunset, a solar event you can witness each and every night, weather permitting, of course.

Located on chemin du Canal, Parc René-Lévesque offers gorgeous views of the St. Lawrence River, the South Shore (Châteauguay and Kahnawake) and Lac Saint-Louis, all of which can be enjoyed from the stunning lookout area.

A popular summer spot, the Lachine lookout is open all year round and offers panoramic views of Montreal's coastline. The tip of the peninsula is the quintessential sunset spot, where you can enjoy a picnic, a stroll with that special someone, or a solo moment where you can unwind and gaze into the distance.

The area is also home to countless statues and permanent stone fixtures, as well as a kid's park, tons of picnic benches and tables, and a designated path for walkers, and cyclists. You can also enjoy the on-site arboretum — made up of countless trees and plants from a variety of species.

On the very edge of the peninsula tip, sunset catchers can also enjoy views of the Lachine lighthouse, where you can often watch folks fishing, too.

For those venturing over and wanting to make the most of your evening, grab some ice cream from the Dairy Queen on boul. Saint-Joseph, 'cause what beats sundaes and sunsets, right?
