11 Last-Minute Father's Day Ideas In & Around Montreal You Can Actually Do Today

Happy Father's Day, Dad! Thanks for everything you do, all the love that you share, and, yes, thanks for telling all of your dad-jokes (I admit it, some of them are actually kinda funny). If the date kinda snuck up on you, don't worry. We've got some last-minute Father's Day ideas in Montreal just for you.

Father's Day is a great way to show fathers and father-figures just how lucky we are to have them.

Usually, it's one of the first times in the season we head to someone's backyard, a terrasse or somewhere special to celebrate.

Of course, this year we have to get a little more creative as the city and the province begin to slowly reopen.

This list is tailored to the current reality. Everything below is open and legal to visit or do under current restrictions.

In every case, it's important to keep in mind the government's rules for using public spaces and hanging out with people who don't live at the same address as you.

Of course, if you don't mind celebrating a day late, you could also wait for the reopening of restaurant dining rooms in the Montreal area on June 22 to take your dad out to eat.

But if you'd like to surprise your pops today, consider one of these options.

Go To Opening Night Of Montreal's Giant New Drive-In Theatre

The Royalmount Drive-In Event Theatre conveniently opens on Father's Day with a screening of the 1984 classic, Footloose.

The massive space even has car window food service — perfect for a fun evening with the family.

Test Your Skills In An Outdoor Escape Game To Find Hidden Treasure

The brand-new challenge from the escape game masters at A/Maze has players explore St-Henri for clues that lead them to the location of famous industrialist John Redpath's hidden fortune.

The 90-minute to two-hour adventure along the Lachine Canal could lead perfectly into the next activity on this list.

Have Tacos & Beer By The Lachine Canal

When restaurant dining rooms closed down, El Gordo in Little Burgundy transformed one of its windows into an adorable little taco takeout spot.

Customers can order tacos, nachos, churros, and beer and head a few blocks south to a particularly popular green stretch of park along the canal.

Treat Your Dad To A Massage

Spas in the Montreal area are open for select services, like massages.

As of the time of writing Scandinave Spa in Old Montreal still has some massage appointments available on June 21.

You can book online.

Picnic In The Park

We've said it once and we'll say it again, nothing screams summer in Montreal quite like picnicking in the park. Make it a 5 à 7 with this amazing happy hour kit delivered right to your door. Grab a bucket of fried chicken for an outdoor feast.

Invite a few people from outside your household (following the government's guidelines, of course) to make it a classic Father's Day BBQ.

It's the perfect opportunity to buy local produce or try a new delivery service.

Some of the city's pools are also reopening if you need to cool off.

Rent Some Kayaks & Explore Water Routes In & Around Montreal

Kayaking is one of the best ways to escape the city and get an alternative view of nature. There are numerous spots in and around Montreal to rent boats and embark on a water adventure.

Some of these spots are already open. Be sure to check the latest updates on their websites before heading out.

Have An Uber Eats Feast Of Quebecers' Favourite Foods

Give the guy a break... and you, too! No need to worry about making dinner. Order-in from one of Quebec's' favourite spots and use that free time to spend quality time together.

Take A Bike Ride Around The City

Another great thing about Montreal in the summer is biking. Whether it's up the mountain or along the canal, seeing the city with loved ones and with the wind in your hair is one of the best feelings there is. Don't own a bike? Try a BIXI!

Visit One Of Quebec's National Parks

Outside the city, the beauty of Quebec's landscapes continues to flourish. Sépaq parks are gradually reopening, allowing for a fun Father's Day excursion for more outdoorsy dads.

The Îles de Boucherville National Park is right next to Montreal Island.

Note that online ticket purchases are mandatory.

Non-essential travel between regions is still discouraged, though, so it's always best to stick to the parks in your own area.

If you live nowhere near a national park, best to keep scrolling.

Go Ice-Cream Shop Hopping

Think you inherited your sweet tooth from your dad? Take him from place to place trying the city's sweetest iced confections.

Here are some of the local ice cream shops open for takeout.

Have A Nacho Mountain

Lola Rosa nachos for takeout. Need we say more?

Happy Father's Day!

We strongly advise that before you go swimming or visit any location, you check the most recent updates on potential hazards, security, water quality, and closures. If you do plan to visit a location, respect the environment.
