A Raven Was Possibly Stolen From A Montreal-Area Zoo & It Says He'll Die Without Care
The Ecomuseum Zoo in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is one resident short after the possible theft of Kola the raven.
The bird went missing sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning after a break-in, said David Rodrigue, executive director of the Ecomuseum, in a statement posted to Facebook.
The suspect used tools to cut into the raven’s aviary and Kola was either taken or left on his own, he said. Authorities are investigating and the zoo has added extra security equipment around the site.

The Ecomuseum wants the bird back, said Rodrigue, as Kola has chronic health issues due to a broken wing and other injuries that have left him unable to survive in the wild.
“Let me be very clear about the outcome of this act, for the benefit of whoever is responsible,” said Rodrigue. “This will most likely be a death sentence for Kola. Pure and simple.”
The rescued bird has lived at the Ecomuseum for four years and takes daily medications for his health.
"He is not a domesticated animal or a pet. If you truly value his well-being, please return him in our care," said Rodrigue. "We will gladly welcome Kola and refrain from judging you.”
Residents with any details pertaining to Kola should contact local law enforcement immediately, he said, and all information will be kept confidential.
