A Montreal NDP Event Was Delayed Because A Poutine Truck Broke Down — Yes, Really

This Canadian election season is in fine form.

Staff Writer

The Canadian election took a hilarious turn Thursday after NDP leader Jagmeet Singh came to Montreal on a campaign trip to serve his famous Punjabi poutine out of a food truck.

The problem is, the food truck broke down on the way to the event, leaving many NDP supporters and journalists hungry for cheese curds.

Multiple journalists reported the very Canadian news on Twitter — news Singh eventually confirmed with a clever reply and promise to "get the poutine to the people."

According to Singh's Instagram story, the food truck finally arrived to serve up Punjabi poutine for a few hours.

Singh's Punjabi poutine was made famous after the NDP leader posted an hour-long Instagram live cooking video.

The food truck was scheduled to visit Parc Père-Marquette and Parc Préfontaine.
