Kamala Harris' High School Responded To The News Of Her Nomination For Vice President

Montreal is abuzz with the news that a former resident could be headed for the White House. And now, Kamala Harris' high school is taking part in the celebration, sharing its pride on Twitter.

Harris, a graduate of Westmount High School, spent her teenage years in Montreal while her mother, Dr. Shyamala Harris, worked at the Jewish General Hospital and McGill University.

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante also sent congrats to the California senator.

"[Joe Biden's] running mate for the presidential election will be [Kamala Harris], who lived in MTL for 10 years while her mother taught at [McGill], and she graduated from [Westmount High]," she wrote on Twitter.

"This is the first nomination to this post for an African-American woman. Congratulations!"

Harris will go up against current Vice President Mike Pence in the November election.
