One Of The Cutest Houses On The Plateau Is For Sale & In Need Of A Loving Dreamer (PHOTOS)

It could be yours.
Senior Editor

You've probably seen it on your Plateau strolls. Sitting snugly between its two neighbours, the bright blue house with the yellow trim stands out on Montreal's famous rue Drolet. It's one of the most photographed façades in the city, "representing the spirit and soul of the Plateau." And now, it's looking for someone to give it a little love.

The compact single-family home is on the market for $749,000 by local realtors Rémy Beauchamp and Patrice Dansereau.

It's been in the same family since 1933, but now needs a new owner who's willing to put in the work to fix it up.

Though, according to the listing, "its charm has remained intact and its foundations are solid," "major renovations" are in order.

But the home's features and architectural details are enough to charm any antique-lover into accepting the mission.

Photos of the property by photographer Julien Cadena of Studio Point DeVue show exposed beams and brick, wide-plank hardwood floors, intricate molding, and, in the back yard, the round French railings that define Plateau balconies.

The details are drool-worthy.

The main floor features "a large double living room with high ceilings, large windows in each room, generous ceiling friezes, original knotty pine slatted floors."

Below, a finished basement, used by the former owners as a kitchen and dining room, leads out to both the front and back of the house.

On the upper floor are three bedrooms, including an owner's suite "with large window opening onto the garden side."

From the street, the house hides its best-kept secret: a large backyard full of potential.

Just imaging sipping coffee on that back deck planning your landscaping project for the day.

At the heart of the Plateau, the home is close to everything: the electric boulevard Saint-Laurent, the restaurants of Duluth, Sherbrooke metro station, and the green lawns of Parc La Fontaine.

This dream Montreal house is looking for a dreamer.

Could it be you?
