Montreal Has Launched A Snowman-Building Contest & You Can Win Money

Avoid COVID-19 curfew meltdown: chill out and build a snowman.
Contributing Writer

The City of Montreal has launched a snowman building contest and you can win cold hard cash (in the form of a gift card).

“The principle is simple: roll, model, shape, photograph, participate and invite your friends to vote,” stated the city.

The Concours bonhommes de neige is divided into seven categories.

Contestants in the four individual categories — kids aged three to five, six to 12, 13 years and over, and professional — can win a $50 gift card.

Group entries can win a gift voucher of $150 for the family category, a $250 gift card for the preschool category, and a $350 gift certificate for the school category.

All entries are posted to the city’s website and you have until March 11 to vote for your favourite.

The creations with the highest number of votes will be declared the winners.

There are also a bunch of rules. The main building ingredient must be snow (which sounds reasonable), no electrical aids, and no blocking of public thoroughfares.

And it doesn’t have to be a traditional anthropomorphic snow creation with a stack of balls and a carrot nose.

“Snow can be modelled or sculpted in any form, be it human, animal, vegetable, fantasy or in the form of an object,” state the rules.

So let your snowmagination run wild.
