Quebec Is Seeing A 'Worrying Trend' & Demanding That Young People Follow The Rules

15 to 34-year-olds are "vectors of transmission."
Staff Writer

The government has asked all 15 to 34-year-olds in the province to become "influencers" in their communities and friend groups to spread the message to follow Quebec's public health rules

Deputy Premier Geneviève Guilbault implored young people to continue following the guidelines after "worrying trends" have been observed among 15 to 34-year-olds.

Right now, you literally have the power in your hands to influence how things go.

According to Guilbault, people in that age group can act as "vectors of transmission" to more vulnerable people even if they don't get sick, themselves.

In many cases, transmissions have been localized to bars or "private parties of more than 10 people," which violate public health rules.

"Right now, you literally have the power in your hands to influence how things go," she said, addressing young Quebecers.

As of July 27, there have been 58,728 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Quebec.
