At this point, we all know that the REM is beginning to take shape across Montreal.

As progress moves forward, the folks over at the REM have released another series of photo renderings and even a new video previewing what the downtown core is set to look like.

There will be five REM stations in downtown Montreal: Île-des-Soeurs, Griffintown–Bernard-Landry, Gare Centrale, McGill and Édouard-Montpetit.

Two of them are set to open in 2022: Île-des-Soeurs and Gare Centrale.

The downtown segment will be the only section of the REM that will have three underground stations.

The tracks above Île des Soeurs and Griffintown will offer views of the city as the train moves into the downtown core.

The REM is going to dramatically cut down travel time into downtown from the suburbs, with high-frequency trains during rush hour.
