The Montreal SPCA Is Matching Donations Right Now So You Can Show Them Double The Love

If you're an animal lover who's been looking to help the Montreal SPCA, then its new campaign is one way to maximize your support.

From now until December 31, each donation made to the Montreal SPCA will be matched by the Bryant-Mapes Fund, created by two "enthusiastic dog lovers," Floranna Bryant and Dorothy Mapes, who included the Montreal SPCA in their will.

"To help us work even more miracles for our little protégés, I encourage all those who can to make a donation, since its value will be doubled!" said Élise Desaulniers, executive director for the Montreal SPCA, in a press release

Working tirelessly to give animals a second chance, the Montreal SPCA leads efforts to make society more respectful of all sentient beings.

Donations to the SPCA allow it to "rescue and care for more abandoned or abused animals," says its website.

Funds raised from this specific campaign will go to saving more orphaned kittens.

They will also go toward developing the SPCA's behavioural consultation service for pet owners who cannot afford an animal behaviourist. This aims to reduce the number of abandonments that take place, says the press release.

In July, MTL Blog reported that a COVID-19 induced housing crisis was causing hundreds of pets to be given up.

Donations up to $85,000 will be matched. But even if times are tough right now and all you can swing is $5, the SPCA will get $5 more than if you donate at any other time of the year.
