The SPVM Inspected 300+ Montreal Locations For COVID-19 Rule Breaking Last Week

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) released its weekly Twitter update on infractions related to COVID-19 — and the data shows that the police conducted hundreds of inspections over the past week.

In the tweet, the SPVM says that between October 19 and 25, it inspected 18 licensed establishments, 67 schools and 239 "other" locations for public health infractions.

The police also received "557 calls related to the application of the Public Health Decree."

324 SPVM inspections for COVID-19 public health violations

As a result, the SPVM issued 105 "statements of offence," also known as RIGs, an acronym for rapport d'infraction général.

The police service accepts tips from Montrealers on any COVID-19 public health violations they may see.

The violations can range from disrespecting sanitary measures such as wearing a mask, a lack of social distancing or a non-essential business that may have remained open despite red-zone business closures.
