Senior Editor

19-year-old Montreal tennis star Leylah Fernandez has made it to the U.S. Open final, defeating Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus on Thursday evening to claim her spot in the final showdown.

The U.S. Open shared a clip of the moment of Fernandez's semifinal victory on Twitter. The Montrealer falls to the ground and covers her face before popping up to shake her opponent's hand and wave to the crowd.

In a post-game interview, Fernandez thanked fans in New York for supporting her through the tournament.

Fernandez will face the UK's Emma Raducanu in the final.
