With the rising cost of living affecting Canadians, managing a paycheck has become more challenging, especially for those with lower incomes.

Quebec residents may be eligible for several government benefits and credits offered in February to ease financial strain.

Verifying eligibility for programs such as the Quebec Pension Plan, Family Allowance, Old Age Security, and the Canada Child Benefit is recommended as you could be entitled to hundreds of dollars.

Here's everything you need to know about the government benefits and credits going out to Quebecers in February 2024:

Quebec Pension Plan (QPP)

Per Retraite Quebec, the Québec Pension Plan (QPP) is a compulsory public insurance program intended for individuals aged 18 and above, with annual employment earnings surpassing $3,500. Its main purpose is to provide essential financial protection for individuals employed in Québec and their dependents in the event of retirement, death, or disability, according to Revenu Quebec.

For recipients receiving monthly payments, the pension is typically disbursed on the final business day of each month.

Payment Date: February 29, 2024

Public-sector Pension Plan (RREGOP, PPMP)

For those who collect and opt for direct deposit, the public-sector retirement pension will be paid on the 15th of each month for the rest of your life, per Retraite Quebec.

If the 15th falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, your pension will be paid on the preceding business day. If you opted for payment by cheque, the cheque will be issued no later than 48 hours before that date.

Payment Date: February 15, 2024

The Old Age Security (OAS) pension is a monthly payment for individuals aged 65 and above, per the Canada Revenue Agency.
