Amidst the rising costs, the Government of Canada has a lineup of federal benefits and credits to lend a helping hand, especially for families in need.

The Canada Child Benefit (CCB) is a non-taxable payment designed to help qualifying families across Canada, and with inflation hitting new highs, rent going up and the cost of groceries skyrocketing, it's safe to say that many Canadian families grappling with the economic pinch are looking for some financial breathing room.

It's important to verify if you're eligible for the Canada Child Benefit, as you could be entitled to hundreds of dollars per month.

Here's everything to know about the Canada Child Benefit and when payments go out:

What is the Canada Child Benefit (CCB)?

According to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), the Canada Child Benefit is a monthly, non-taxable payment designed to assist qualifying families in covering the expenses associated with raising children under the age of 18. This benefit may encompass an extra amount for the Child Disability Benefit.

When you apply for the CCB, you automatically enroll your children for the Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax (GST/HST) credit, the Climate Action Incentive Payment, and various associated federal, provincial, and territorial programs managed by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
