A Quebec spa was named among the best in the world and it's under 2 hours from Montreal

Sooo peaceful. 🧘

Someone sits in a chair reading. Right: Someone in a swimming pool surrounded by lush green trees.

A Quebec spa was named among the best in the world and it's under 2 hours from Montreal.

The results of the 10th annual World Spa Awards are in, and a Quebec spa — less than two hours by car from Montreal — has been crowned Canada’s Best Day Spa for 2024.

Strøm Spa Nordique, with five locations across the province, including one in the heart of Old Montreal, claimed the top spot for its Old Quebec location. This serene 32,000-square-foot retreat, perched on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, offers guests an immersive escape in one of Quebec’s most historic cities.

The spa boasts five hot baths, four Nordic baths, two saunas, two steam baths, eight relaxation areas, and four treatment spaces where guests can indulge in exfoliation treatments, massage therapy, manicures, and pedicures.

Among the highlights are the infinity pool with riverfront views, and the Epsom salt flotation bath, which the website compared to the Dead Sea, allowing visitors to float effortlessly in water with 25-27% salinity.

The Strøm River, a lazy-river-style indoor-outdoor pool, is another unique feature. According to the spa’s website, it offers "a fluid experience that stimulates the five senses and lets you drift away quietly."

If all this relaxation builds an appetite, the Nord Restaurant serves a seasonal menu featuring local artisanal ingredients. "Inspired by nature, executive chef Raphaël Podlasiewicz and his brigade create dishes and drinks that are both delectable and surprising, to be savoured with pleasure and intention," the spa’s website states.

Strøm Spa Nordique wasn’t the only Canadian spa recognized in this year’s awards. Guerlain Spa at Hotel X Toronto took home the title of Canada's Best Hotel Spa 2024, Whistler Spa at Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler was named Canada's Best Resort Spa 2024, and Grail Springs Retreat Centre for Wellbeing in Bancroft, Ontario was recognized as Canada's Best Wellness Retreat 2024.
