Despite rising inflation, an ongoing trade war, and a cost of living that continues to stretch household budgets, four Canadian cities — including Montreal — have been ranked among the wealthiest in the world, according to a new report.

The World's Wealthiest Cities Report 2025 by consulting firm Henley & Partners reveals where the world’s richest people live, including millionaires, billionaires, and a fast-growing group called centimillionaires — individuals with at least $100 million in investable assets.

These aren't just people with luxury real estate and stock portfolios. The report, produced in partnership with New World Wealth, notes that this group includes "arguably the most important wealth band when it comes to wealth creation due to the large percentage of entrepreneurs in this segment."

In other words, their presence in a city is a strong indicator of its economic and industrial vitality. This year, four Canadian spots made the cut.

Unsurprisingly, leading the pack in Canada is Toronto, with 184 centimillionaires. That puts the city in 18th place globally, among the ranks of global wealth hotspots like Monaco (#17) and Milan (#19).

Vancouver follows closely with 90, tied with Austin, Texas for 37th place on the global ranking. Montreal, tied with Warsaw, Poland, with an estimated 32 centimillionaires calling the city home, ranks 92nd in the world. Calgary rounded out the group with 26 centimillionaires, but is expected to see its number of ultra-wealthy residents double over the next decade.

  • Toronto – 184 centimillionaires (18th globally)
  • Vancouver – 90 centimillionaires (37th globally, tied with Austin)
  • Montreal – 32 centimillionaires (92nd globally, tied with Warsaw)
  • Calgary – 26 centimillionaires (105th globally)

For those keeping score on a national level: that's a lot of money flying around — and yes, some of it might be just down the street.
