The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled several foods sold across Canada that could pose a serious health and safety risk to Canadian consumers.

The affected food items have been recalled for reasons such as undeclared ingredients, bacterial contamination, toxins and the presence of extraneous materials.

The CFIA is urging consumers to verify if they have any of the recalled foods. If so, it's important to not use, sell, consume or distribute them.

Recall Reason: According to the CFIA, the affected coconut water product has been recalled across Ontario due to undeclared sulphites.

Recall Reason: The affected products are being recalled from the marketplace as the MiO energy drink mixes have potentially unsafe levels of caffeine.

CFIA Note: High levels of caffeine may have adverse health effects for children, pregnant individuals, breastfeeding individuals, and those sensitive to caffeine. Exercising while consuming caffeine may lead to adverse health effects. Some of the side effects of consuming excess caffeine may include insomnia, irritability, headaches, and nervousness.

Recall Reason: According to the CFIA, the affected cheese brands are being recalled due to Staphylococcus aureus, a dangerous bacteria that can cause a variety of self-limiting to life-threatening diseases in humans.

CFIA Note: Per Health Canada, "the bacteria are a leading cause of food poisoning, resulting from the consumption of food contaminated with enterotoxins." Furthermore, Staphylococcus aureus is also one of the most common causes of skin, soft tissue, and nosocomial infection.
