The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled grocery items sold across Canada for reasons that could pose a serious health and safety risk to Canadian consumers.

The CFIA has issued several recall warnings, many of which are related to foods with undeclared ingredients, Salmonella and Listeria contamination, as well as the presence of extraneous materials.

The federal health agency is currently removing any and all recalled items from the Canadian marketplace, and is urging consumers to verify if they have any of the affected items.

Here are the seven recalled foods to look out for.

Recall Reason: Per the recall warning page, the affected products are being recalled from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination.

What You Need To Do: The CFIA advises that if you suspect illness from a recalled product, contact your healthcare provider. Additionally, check for recalled items in your possession. If found, do not consume, use, sell, or distribute them; instead, discard or return them. It's crucial to note that food contaminated with Salmonella might look and smell normal but can cause serious illness, particularly in vulnerable populations. Healthy individuals can experience symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, cramps, and diarrhoea, with potential long-term effects like severe arthritis.

Recall Reason: Per the CFIA, the affected products are being recalled from the marketplace because they contain eggs which is not declared on the label.

What You Need To Do: According to the federal; health agency, Canadians are being urged to check to see if they have any of the recalled products and not consume them if they are allergic or sensitive, as they may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction. Additionally, consumers should not serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products; instead, they should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.

Recall Reason: The affected product is being recalled from the marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination, per the recall warning page.

What You Need To Do: If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, the CFIA suggests contacting your healthcare provider. It's also important to check to see if you have recalled products and to not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute them. Furthermore, food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can cause illness with symptoms like vomiting, nausea, fever, muscle aches, headache, and neck stiffness.

Recall Reason: According to the CFIA, the Le Moulin des Cèdres brand and Les Produits Agrobio brand flour products were recalled due to pieces of paint.

What You Need To Do: The affected items were sold throughout Quebec (and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories). Per the CFIA, consumers in possession of the affected flour should "not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product."

Recall Reason: Per the recall warning page, the Nova Pharma brand Ice Clear Protein (dairy-free) has been recalled due to undeclared milk.

What You Need To Do: The CFIA is urging consumers to "not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected products," which were sold both online and in-stores across Quebec.

Recalled Food:

  • Mousse Salmon Keta | All units where mustard is not indicated on the label

Recall Reason: The Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation au Québec (MAPAQ) in collaboration with Groupe Adonis Inc., has recalled the salmon spread due to undeclared ingredients. In this case, the salmon product has mustard in it, which is not declared on the packaging.

What You Need To Do: Per the MAPAQ, this warning applies only to people with a mustard allergy. In addition, anyone in possession of this product is advised not to consume it. They should return it to the store where they bought it or throw it away.
