Canada geese are creating piles of trouble in Montreal's LaSalle borough so authorities are using dogs and remote-controlled devices to compel them to fly elsewhere.

Although it sounds like the plot of a Parks & Recreation episode, officials plan to spend over $60,000 to rent snowmaking machines in Montreal's Rosemont–La-Petite-Patrie borough this winter.

According to a document obtained by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation and shared with MTL Blog, borough officials contracted Snö Innovation Inc to carry out snowmaking operations at Père-Marquette, Joseph-Paré, Lafond and Pélican parks.

Winter bikers are getting an early Christmas present from Parks Canada and the Sud-Ouest borough. Huge sections of Montreal's Lachine Canal bike path will soon be fully accessible even after the worst snowstorm. 

Clearing the bike path of snow has been a demand of the Coalition Mobilité Active Montréal for quite some time and the organization is "grateful" for this move, according to spokesperson Dan Lambert.

SCFP 301 representatives in Montreal are "outraged" that the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough authorized hiring what the union called "security guards" to "monitor the health behaviors of its members." Representing part of Montreal's blue-collar workforce, the SCFP 301 has stated that it has not received any complaints.

On Tuesday, November 10, the Montreal borough of Saint-Laurent announced that citizens and employees will now be able to dispose of their personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks and gloves, in designated recycling boxes outside of municipal buildings.

According to the release, once the boxes are full, they're sent to TerraCycle, where the contents are recycled into materials, such as plastic granules, which can be used for things like storage boxes or synthetic wood street furniture.

A fatal police shooting in CDN-NDG has the community reeling. The Quebec Coroner's Office has confirmed to MTL Blog that a 41-year-old man named Sheffield Matthews was shot and killed by SPVM officers in the early morning of Thursday, October 29. 

Several reports, including a statement from the borough mayor, have identified Matthews as Black.
