Driving in Montreal is no easy feat. You've got loads of construction and a sea of orange cones, potholes galore and not to mention, the traffic. In fact, Montreal has the fourth worst traffic in Canada behind Toronto, Vancouver and Winnipeg, according to a recent report from TomTom.

TomTom, a traffic Index measuring 389 cities around the world by their travel time, fuel costs and CO2 emissions, indicated that the average travel time in Montreal is 18 minutes and 50 seconds per 10 kilometres, making the 514 the eighth most congested city in all of North America, scoring worse than other traffic-ridden spots such as Los Angeles, Boston and Chicago.

Gas prices in Montreal have been on the decline this week — hitting some of the lowest rates seen in nearly a year. That's good news for drivers who've been hearing a slew of unfavourable predictions over the last few months. Fortunately, the current cost break is slated to last through the weekend.

The average price per litre of unleaded fell to $1.50 in the city on Friday, down just over 12 cents in seven days. By Saturday, it's expected to go down another two cents, according to price analyst site Gas Wizard. That's just above the $1.46/litre lowest average price recorded this past year.

If you have been looking for the ideal time to fill up your tank, then now is the best time to do so. Dan McTeague, an expert in gas price forecasting, predicted the cost of fuel to drop to $164.9/L across southern Ontario and Montreal — a fall of about three cents.
