Montreal doesn’t do ordinary, especially right after Nuit Blanche. When the city's all-night art bash wraps up, it switches from visual feast to actual feast with Brunchs en Lumière.
Over two dozen eateries will offer a special menu on the morning of March 3 for festivalgoers looking to refuel following the festivities. It's the Montreal brunch afterparty you didn't know you needed until now.
"It offers nice continuity for people who've been out late and want to try restaurants in Montreal that offer brunch," Julie Martel, Manager of Gastronomic Programming for Montréal en Lumière, told MTL Blog. The morning-after affair is a new addition to the festival lineup which celebrates its 25th edition this year.
Martel and her team looked for venues that could offer something truly special. "We were very selective," she said, emphasizing the curation behind participating establishments.
At the Casino de Montréal, "you can step into the kitchens and serve yourself," Martel revealed. Guests can see chefs at work up close and choose their dishes directly from the source. Meanwhile, Arthur's Nosh Bar will present the "Grand Slam en Lumière," promising a lavish spread that includes everything from honey butter waffles to spicy fried chicken.
For those seeking a quieter atmosphere, Janine Café, with its English tearoom-style decor, provides a peaceful setting for a post-Nuit Blanche meal. On the other hand, Stanley offers an energetic brunch experience with unlimited mimosas, cocktails, and live music, ensuring the festive spirit of Nuit Blanche continues into the day.
Rosélys answers the call of the famished with an extensive all-you-can-eat brunch buffet, catering to every craving. And Tiramisu, in collaboration with Le Passé Composé, is introducing new brunch cocktails that add a fresh kick to morning dining and feature unusual combinations, like the Smooth Morning made with gin, black currant, yuzu and white beer.
Marché Artisans is celebrating maple season and inviting guests to enjoy a non-alcoholic Bloody Caesar as part of the Brunchs en Lumière experience. Martel suggests making the most of the proximity to Rosélys for a comprehensive brunch journey within the Queen Elizabeth Hotel. While Marché Artisans welcomes walk-ins, securing reservations is recommended for other venues.
The excitement of Brunchs en Lumière extends beyond morning dining, with 13 Michelin star chefs gracing various award-winning Montreal restaurants as part of the broader Montréal en Lumière festival.Establishments like Mastard, Monarque, Maison Boulud, and Restaurant Graziella are all set to host the culinary masters, offering evening meals that promise to be as memorable as the festival's morning offerings.
After all, the party never really stops in Montreal — it just oscilates between dinner and breakfast.
