Canadians are currently grappling with the economic challenges, particularly given the escalating cost of living, which includes increases in grocery prices, rent and everyday necessities. Stretching a pay cheque has become markedly more challenging for individuals and families, particularly those with lower incomes.

For residents of Quebec seeking additional financial support to cope with inflation, the Quebec and federal governments extend various benefits and credits throughout 2024. It is suggested to assess your eligibility for these government programs, as you could be entitled to thousands of dollars next year.

The Quebec government disburses several credits and benefits, including the Quebec Pension Plan (QPP), Family Allowance, Old Age Security, and the Canada Workers' Benefit, among others.

Here is a guide for Quebec residents on upcoming government payments throughout 2024.

Its main purpose is to provide essential financial protection for individuals employed in Québec and their dependents in the event of retirement, death, or disability, according to Revenu Quebec.

For recipients receiving monthly payments, the pension is typically disbursed on the final business day of each month.

The Family Allowance

The Family Allowance payment, as outlined by the Quebec government, extends financial support to eligible families with one or more dependent children under the age of 18 residing with them.

There is no need for an application to receive Family Allowance payments so long as you are born in Quebec. Instead, the child is automatically enrolled in the Family Allowance program when the birth is reported to the Directeur de l'état civil.

The amount of the Family Allowance payment varies for each family and is determined based on the following factors:

  1. The number of dependent children under the age of 18 living with the beneficiary.
  2. The number of children in shared custody.
  3. The family income is calculated as the combined total of both spouses' incomes.
  4. The family type distinguishes between single-parent and two-parent households.

Payment Dates:

  • January 3, 2024
  • April 2, 2024
  • July 2, 2024
  • October 1, 2024
