As of mid-July, Canadians can anticipate several payments from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), including the Canada Child Benefit (CCB).

With the soaring cost of living, it’s understandable that many Canadians, especially low-income families, are seeking ways to manage inflation. This could involve working additional hours, cutting costs wherever possible, or obtaining extra government assistance.

Ensuring you qualify for all available government benefits and credits is crucial, as you might be eligible for amounts ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Here’s a complete guide on the Canada Child Benefit and the amount you can expect to receive in the upcoming July payment.

What is the Canada Child Benefit (CCB)?

According to the CRA, the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) is a tax-free monthly payment provided to eligible families to assist with the expenses of raising children under 18.

The CCB may also encompass the Child Disability Benefit and various related provincial and territorial programs. Canadians should apply for the CCB immediately in any of the following circumstances:

  • Your child is born.
  • A child starts living with you or returns to live with you after a temporary stay with someone else.
  • You begin, end, or modify a shared custody arrangement.
  • You gain custody of a child.
