Legault Announced A Time Frame For When Quebecers Can Stop Wearing Masks In Public

On Tuesday, Premier François Legault gave Quebecers a time frame for when he thinks it will no longer be mandatory to wear masks in public: the end of August.

The caveat is this will only be possible if Quebec reaches its goal of vaccinating 75% of the population over 12 years old with two doses. But Legault said he's "very confident" that it will be done.

The end of August restriction lift is part of the three stages in Quebec's reopening plan. The other two take place starting May 28 and June 25.

Starting May 28, curfew will be lifted across Quebec, restaurant terrasses may reopen and private outdoor gatherings will be allowed for up to eight people. 

Starting June 25, day camps and sleepover camps can reopen and stadiums with fixed seating can reopen for up to 2,500 people.
