As the year draws to a close, many of us reflect on the good times we had, because let's face it — it was mostly bad.

Few people know this more than Montreal's mayor, Valérie Plante, who, for the past nine months, has been delivering video messages from city hall.

I would like to take advantage of the end of the year to share with you a few funny behind-the-scenes moments from our video shoots!

Mayor Valérie Plante

Although many of these serious messages informed the public about city initiatives, a video posted by the mayor on Wednesday gave us a peek at some of the behind-the-scenes bloopers that brought a little bit of levity to an otherwise dreary year.

No matter how much training you have, being in front of a camera can be a daunting task, especially when you need to remember a script.

From mispronounced words to garbled sentences, Plante took everything in stride and laughed it off with her signature wit.

One of our favourite moments is when Plante stumbled a bit while delivering one sentence and just started showing off her pipes, hitting a pretty impressive high note.

"I would like to thank all those who have worked to offer, in 2020, so many activities and remote meetings to Montrealers," Plante wrote in the post.

"It has been a privilege for me to take part in your events, even virtually."

Plante's blooper reel is a reminder that even in the bleakest of times, we should all take time to reflect on the moments that make us laugh and smile.
