A Brown Waterfall Poured Into Montreal's Lionel-Groulx Station After A Pipe Burst (VIDEO)

Like every other major transportation system in a large city, the Montreal metro occasionally runs into a little problem or two. And yesterday, its problem became known as the "Lionel-Groulx waterfall" on social networks.

Thanks to Instagram user mendips.doom, we got a visual of this infamous leak.

The STM told MTL Blog that "this leak was caused by a break in a water pipe during excavation work."

We're told the situation was handled rapidly. "We quickly cut off the power supply to protect the equipment and rolling stock and ensure the safety of the customers, and the leak was then plugged," said the STM.

Service on the orange line reportedly resumed shortly after.

But the light at the end of the tunnel was the hilarious responses that came about on Twitter about the "Lionel-Groulx waterfall."

One Twitter user decided to write a poem about it. "The Lionel-Groulx waterfalls are one of the great nature spot in our city. Look at this disgusting brown water falling onto the metro, seeping through the cracks. Feel its dirty drops on your skin."

Another wrote, "Vivre le titanic au métro Lionel - groulx" — an ode to everyone's favourite movie.
