The press release describes the new space as "a public park with nearly 50% more greenery, including an urban forest! The winning concept proposes a signature site for Montreal and visitors to the Quartier des Spectacles, while creating a multifunctional space that offers versatility and flexibility for festival logistics activities on part of the site during the summer."

This concept was chosen as the winner of the international multidisciplinary landscape architecture competition for the development of a new park on "terrain no 066," which is found between de rue Maisonneuve and avenue President-Kennedy, between rue Bleury and rue Jeanne-Mance.

In mayor Plante's announcement, she congratulated the winners of the competition, Mario Nájera, Raquel Peñalosa, Diana Elizalde and landscape architecture and urban design firm WAA Montreal.
