The current tenant of the Verdun apartment that caused a stir after a huge lineup was photographed outside this weekend tells MTL Blog that "there was definitely a more responsible way to organize it."

Hayley Crawhall-Duk, who was first identified by Narcity Québec, said that she and her boyfriend "were definitely very surprised" that such a massive lineup formed.

The two-bedroom apartment listed at $925/month was apparently so sought-after that a lineup began to form early in the morning at 9:45 a.m., said Crawhull-Duk.

"We shouldn’t have line ups like that when apartment vacancy rates are adequately high, but the problem is the price," she said.

"My heart goes out to the Verdun community, which is well-established and tight-knit, who are suffering from the fact that the rest of Montreal is trying to consume it."
