This Festive Square In The Old Port Is Perfect For A Holi-Date With Your Bubble Buddy
The coziest outdoor space in town!
A festive hub with light, art installations, and public furniture has opened forat .
Place Nordique, part of the "Merry Montreal" event launched in collaboration with the city, is designed as the perfect outdoor spot for rest and relaxation after a day of snowy.
According to the Old Montreal SDC website, "this space [was] specially arranged to help you appreciate winter and the wonder of the holidays through an audio and light experience."
But it's also a great place to bring a hot beverage and a bubble buddy for a cozy, romantic or platonic (whatever you'd like it to be) winter date.
And, best of all, it's totally free.
Merry Montreal's website showcases some of the square's art installations, which you'll see as you walk around. There's a giant igloo, light crystals, and a sculpture of a beluga whale, along with a number of Christmas trees.
Place Nordique also features a sparkling canopy-like structure adorned with illuminated trees or antlers (depending on how you see it), which you might recognize from previous years.
All visitors are expected to comply with Quebec's public health protocols for COVID-19. Masks are encouraged, even though it's outdoors, and visitors are expected to practice two-metre social distancing.
The website says two security guards will be present in the square to ensure visitors are complying with red-zone rules.
