McGill University remains a heavyweight in higher education. The latest results from a prestigious global ranking have confirmed placed the Montreal school in the top 30 of over 20,000 institutions assessed.

This year’s Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) Global 2000 ranking shows McGill holding strong against thousands of institutions worldwide.

Unlike other rankings, CWUR doesn't rely on surveys or data submissions from universities to assess their real-world impact and academic excellence. Instead, it uses seven indicators across four key areas: quality of education, alumni employability, quality of faculty, and research performance.

If the results of McGill's groundbreaking video game study are any indication, it's doing quite well when it comes to the latter.

McGill ranked 27th overall, among the highest 0.14 percent in the world. The only other Canadian university to come close was the University of Toronto, which ranked 23rd globally.

McGill stood out in multiple areas, placing 25th in education, 44th in faculty quality, and 48th in research, just missing the top 100 in employability, where it placed 105th.

Last year, McGill placed 26th and the year before that 28th, which means the university has maintained a consistent presence in the top tier of global universities over the years.
