Montreal is slicing prices on your favourite crescent-shaped treats for one day this month. On June 15, local bakeries like Arhoma, Boulangerie Jarry, Duc de Lorraine, and Le P'tit Atelier will participate in La Fête du Croissant, buttering up the city with handcrafted croissants for $1.50 each.

The special event, now a yearly tradition, promotes the artistry of local bakers who specialize in making croissants using pure butter, and a work-intensive process of laminating and leavening the dough, which is then proofed, baked, and sold on-site.

La Fête du Croissant originated from a 2011 reader poll by La Presse, which asked Montrealers to choose the city's best croissant. The overwhelming interest and participation led Franck Dury-Pavet, the owner of Fous Desserts and the winner of that poll, to create an event that would celebrate the beloved pastry. The following year, he organized the first croissant festival.

Today, the event extends beyond a simple celebration of croissants. It serves as a day to acknowledge and support the craftsmanship of over 100 participating bakeries across Quebec.

Croissants are sold at $1.50 each with a limit of four per customer, making the treat accessible to more people. The price ensures you get to keep rolling in dough — both the edible and spendable kinds.

A full list of participating locations is still baking, so hungry customers will have to stay tuned for the official announcement to find out every place in the province they can score a delicious deal.
