A Collège Français Annexe Secondaire Longueuil spokesperson confirmed to MTL Blog that a class of Secondary 1 students was sent home after one student's father notified the school Thursday morning that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

The spokesperson said the school immediately contacted the Montérégie regional public health authority, which instructed the school to confine the class and call all their parents to pick them up.

The priority for the Collège du Français administration is certainly the health and protection of students.

Later in the afternoon, Montérégie public health gave the okay for the students to come back to class on Friday, with the exception of the student whose father is infected, the spokesperson said.

On its website, the government of Quebec has outlined steps schools should take in the event of an infection in the school community.
