Sofiane Ghazi has been sentenced to life in prison and will not be eligible for parole for another 15 years.

He stabbed his pregnant wife 19 times with a meat fork, according to the statement of facts. The mother of the dead child was then in her 36th week of pregnancy and survived.

Judge Jean-François Buffoni gave his decision at the Montreal courthouse on Wednesday.
