At around midnight on May 18, a woman was found dead in an apartment on Avenue Adalbert near the corner of Earle Road in Côte Saint-Luc, according to the SPVM. It's the ninth reported homicide in Montreal this year. 

"She was injured by a sharp object to the upper body and sadly, her death was pronounced on the scene," explained SPVM media relations

A man, 35 years old, was arrested and is currently in custody. "The circumstances of this event are presently unknown," the SPVM told MTL Blog.

Reports indicate that this is the 11th woman to have been killed in Quebec this year.

The crime scene is closed to the public while the major crime unit investigates. The investigation is ongoing.
