The difference between a bombolone and a regular donut, says Christina Pomponio, is both in the dough and the method of preparation. But to get a complete understanding of just what makes Chef Ferdinando Mercuri's (Chef Nando) Italian stuffed donuts so special, Montrealers will have to try them for themselves.

Nando is the master behind Bomboloni Boss. He and his team, including Pomponio, Donato Colavito and Amanda Ianovale, are serving up delectable bomboloni flavours like Nutella, pistachio, salted caramel and blueberry jam.

From now until Christmas, customers can also get their hands on the unique red velvet and apple pie bomboloni.

Another seasonal special, Reese's Pieces, ends Halloween weekend.

Bomboloni Boss came about through a magical mix of Nando's authentic Italian know-how, friendship, and, it seems, a bit of luck.

Pomponio told MTL Blog that the idea was born one evening when the four individuals (two couples) were hanging out and Nando shared his recipe.

"They were too cute and delicious not to share them with everyone," Christina said.

According to its Instagram page, Bomboloni Boss is taking orders every day via email. The donuts are then available for either pick-up or delivery.
