Just before 4 a.m. this Monday morning, an "armed assault" occurred in Montreal's Villeray borough between two men.

Such left one 23-year-old man hospitalized.

SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils confirmed that the victim is still in the hospital, but there's no fear for his life.

Concerning the victim — there's no danger for his life.

Caroline Chèvrefils, SPVM Spokesperson

According to the SPVM, the victim is refusing to speak to the police about the assault.

"There's no update in the investigation because the victim doesn't want to cooperate with the police, so it's hard to have information," Chèvrefils said.

That makes "it hard for the investigators to understand what happened."

The weapon in question was simply referred to as a "sharp object."

When MTL Blog spoke with the SPVM around 9 a.m., there were no more updates to be given about the event.

The investigation is ongoing.
