In Montreal, we love to take things to new heights: cuisine, fashion, even the mountain. But this week, it's Montreal's weather that's elevating the city to higher and hotter heights. Environment Canada has issued a heat warning over Southern Quebec starting tomorrow.
Tuesday will start us off strong with 32 C but will feel like 35 C. It'll keep rising and rising until Friday when it will be 35 C and feel like 42 C.
Then, it'll slowly start to cool off.
Not by much though... Saturday is expected to be 32 C and feel like 41 C.
But we'll take what we can, right?
Now, I don't know about you, but I know that in the middle of winter, when the weather people say "it'll be -15 C, but it'll feel like -27 C," all I'm thinking is...
"So then just say -27 C, thanks."
The same can be said for the other way around, but anyone who has grown up with our extreme weather here in Canada, especially the heat, knows that extreme humidity is veeerrryyy different than dry heat.
And the temperature isn't expected to drop below 20 C at night, either.
Like I said, right now it's thought that the heat will cool off after Friday, but if there's anything else Canadians know about the weather is that it is incredibly unpredictable.
As always, after a major heatwave, there's usually a thunderstorm not too far behind.
Saturday currently says that there's a 40% chance of rain, with a possible thunderstorm, and Sunday currently says that there is no thunderstorm, but a 70% chance of rain.
The warning reminds people that "extreme heat affects everyone. The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors."
It goes on to explain that the warnings are only issued when there is a serious threat to people's health and pose serious risks, such as heat stroke and exhaustion.
So stay safe, stay hydrated, and wear some sunscreen!
