Quebec's COVID-19 case count is back on a steady rise.

Today, on October 4, the province saw 1,079 new novel coronavirus cases within the past day.

1,079 New COVID-19 cases

With eight new additions in the past 24 hours, the province has 334 individuals hospitalized due to the virus at the present moment.

Quebec now has 78,459 total COVID-19 cases throughout the entire province.

Of this total, 35,167 of the cases are found in Montreal. The region with the second-highest number of cases is currently Montérégie, with 11,282 confirmed infections.

Various regions in the province currently find themselves under red alert, which means a partial lockdown until October 28 — although Premier Legault has said it could go longer than that.
