At a press conference Tuesday, Premier François Legault confirmed that Quebec's partial lockdown will, in fact, continue to "at least" November 23, as initially projected.

His announcement comes after he promised at the first lockdown extension at the end of October that officials would "re-evaluate" the situation after two weeks.

Montreal’s surging real estate market appears pandemic-proof, according to the Quebec Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers (QPAREB). The QPAREB released a report on Montreal’s real estate market on Tuesday, and both prices and the number of sales rose dramatically in October compared to the same month last year.

"With a historic 37% jump in sales in October, the Montreal CMA maintained a strong increase in sales and a substantial decrease in active listings in the outlying areas of the Island of Montreal," said Charles Brant, director of market analysis at the QPAREB, in a statement.

Responding to a Quebec red-zone restaurant that's planning on defying public health orders by reopening on Friday, Deputy Premier Geneviève Guilbault reminded Quebecers that not only can the owner of establishments be fined — so can customers. 

In a press conference on November 4, Guilbault warned citizens not to go to open restaurants in red zones. 

She compared the situation to a recent scuffle between the provincial government and gym owners when a coalition of 200 gyms and fitness centres in Quebec red-zones had said they were planning on reopening on October 29.
