The time has officially come: COVID-19 vaccines in Quebec will be administered to seniors and health care workers for the first time as of today, December 14.

In a press release distributed this morning, the Quebec government informed the public its vaccination plan is now "underway."

On December 11, the CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l'Ile-de-Montréal shared that they "have conducted several simulations and are ready to launch the immunization program as soon as the vaccine is delivered."

Barry Morgan, Media Relations Specialist for CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l'Ile-de-Montréal, confirmed with MTL Blog around 10 a.m. that "they were still waiting for the vaccine to arrive."

But upon arrival of the vaccines, we're told that "these first vaccines will be administered to the residents of the Donald-Berman Maimonides Geriatric Centre who wish to receive them and to the employees of our CHSLDs," as stated in the CIUSSS' press release.

Health Minister Christian Dubé is set to make an appearance at the Donald-Berman Maimonides Geriatric Centre in Côte Saint-Luc at 1 p.m. today.

Just before 11 a.m., the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux Québec shared photos with MTL Blog of the vaccines arriving to the Centre d’hébergement Saint-Antoine in Quebec City, where Deputy Premier Geneviève Guilbault will be visiting at 4 p.m.*
