Montreal drivers should get ready for another weekend of detours, delays, and construction zone slowdowns. The Quebec transport ministry has announced major road closures on Autoroute 25 and the Honoré-Mercier Bridge from Friday night through early Monday morning as part of ongoing infrastructure work.

Here's what to watch for if you're hitting the road:

Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel (Autoroute 25)
Southbound A-25 will be fully closed:

  • From Friday, July 25 at 11 p.m. to Saturday, July 26 at 8 a.m. (between Exit 5 and Avenue Souligny)
  • From Saturday at 11 p.m. to Sunday, July 27 at 9 a.m. (between Exit 5 and Île Charron)

Northbound A-25 will close:

  • From Sunday, July 27 at 11 p.m. to Monday, July 28 at 5 a.m. (Route 132 to the Hochelaga entrance)

Entrance ramps will close 30 minutes beforehand. Detours via the Jacques-Cartier Bridge or local roads will be in place.

Honoré-Mercier Bridge (Route 138)
From Friday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., only one lane will remain open in each direction on the bridge as crews work on the upstream span. Expect heavy delays, and consider alternate routes like the Champlain or Victoria bridges.

Other closures to watch for this week:

  • Ville-Marie Expressway (R-136 westbound): One of four lanes closed at all times in the Viger Tunnel between Panet Street and the Sanguinet entrance due to overpass repairs.
  • Saint-Urbain Street: Fully closed in both directions between Saint-Antoine and Viger at all times. Detours via Saint-Laurent (northbound) and Place Jean-Paul Riopelle (southbound).
  • Ville-Marie Tunnel (R-136): Fully closed Tuesday, July 22 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, between Exit 4 (rue de la Montagne) and the Atateken access.
  • Souligny Avenue: Multiple ongoing closures tied to tunnel repairs, including a full westbound closure between Honoré-Beaugrand and the A-25 South entrance, plus eastbound lane closures over A-25.
