Tons of restaurants in Quebec are participating in this foodie festival and some over-the-top burger creations are coming our way. Here's a list of just a few you're definitely going to want to try between September 1-14.
What's inside: Ingredients in this bad boy include "Homemade kaiser burger bread, cold-smoked beef patty, halloumi cheese, onion confit, crispy bacon, pickle, lettuce, tomato and the special mayonnaise La Brigade."
Where to find it: La Brigade service traiteur; 125, rue des Peupliers O, Québec, QC
Le Burger Week 2021 ends on Tuesday, September 14*, so the clock is ticking if you're hoping to taste test some of the wild creations restaurants around the city have come up with for this food festival. But if ever you miss your chance, don't stress — some participating restaurants keep their creations on their menus all year long.
Le REBL burger is one action-packed creation to say the least. Inside, you'll find two 3oz beef patties, smashed bun, secret sauce, caramelized onions, pickles, Monterey jack cheese, garnished with two chicken nuggets and some honey on the side. So not only do you get a massive burger to munch on, but you also get two nuggets as a little extra snack. Not to mention Notre Boeuf de Grace makes some of the best fries in the city, in my opinion.
Address: 200, rue Saint- Viateur O, Montreal, QC & 4501, rue Wellington, Verdun, QC
I'll fully admit that part of my curiosity with this burger is that I had never tried Jack Le Coq before. And now that I have, I can say the spicy chicken tenders from there are out of this world, especially when they're inside a burger mixed with honey mustard, hot honey, fried Saputo cheese, pickles, coleslaw, and peppers.
This may not exactly be the most photogenic burger — I'm blaming the fact that I ordered it rather than getting it straight from the restaurant — but Mont Tacos' in-house cheese sauce all over shreds of beef really makes for the perfect in between of both a burger and a taco. There are some pickles hidden in Le Burger Taco also, which are always a necessity.
To get your free burger, head to Winneburger at Jean-Talon Market on Saturday or Sunday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The earlier the better, though, because they're only giving out burgers while supplies last.
According to an email from Winneburger, each burger will contain a secret ingredient. But you won't find out what it is until you get there.
"The FREE burger is a burger with a secret ingredient. People who stop by [this] Food Truck will find out on the spot!" the email says.
Winneburger is located in a converted '80s RV that's been transformed into a commercial kitchen. It belongs to the folks at Nouveau Palais so — not only will your burger be free — you know it'll be damn good, too.
