Le Burger Week 2024 has officially wrapped up, which means burger creations from five Montreal restaurants have been crowned the best in the city. One of them was even named among the top five burgers in all of Canada — a surprising outcome given its unusual ingredients (but more on that later).

The annual food festival, which took place from September 1 to 8 this year, gives chefs across the country total freedom to craft the most mouthwatering burger masterpieces they can come up with. Then, the nation's burger lovers taste the competing dishes and vote on their favourites.

Montreal's burger scene is vast and diverse, with everything from classic smash burgers to vegan options that’ll satisfy any carnivore. Each serves up juicy patties and creative toppings that have turned the dish into a culinary canvas.

It’s the ultimate comfort food, especially when it’s topped with crispy bacon and melted cheddar or a little less conventional with a mini-poutine or pickled papaya on top, or with grilled cheese sandwiches replacing the bun. Even high-end eateries can't resist featuring them on their menus.

Le Burger Week 2023 has officially concluded, marking the end of an exciting two-week-long burger festival across Canada. Burger lovers sank their teeth into some of the boldest, beefiest and biggest burger creations — with five notable restaurants and their unique take on the classic burger coming out on top.

Chefs across Canada were given total creative freedom, or in this case, a culinary carte blanche, to concoct some of the most innovative and delectable burgers they could imagine. Participating cities for this year's festival included Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Saskatoon.

A&W Canada's new Spicy Dill Pickle Burger promises a zesty bite, but we've got a pickle to pick with its toppings. The restaurant launched the brand new menu item on August 21 and pickle lovers are expected to really love this one. But while A&W makes a solid poutine, it seems their burger game could use a bit of an upgrade, especially when it comes to the new release.

Billy K's has officially opened its second Montreal location only minutes from the UQAM campus. This marks the burger joint's third location in Quebec — with the very first having opened in Vaudreuil-Dorion back in 2021.

Billy K's later expanded to St-Léonard and is now available on rue Sainte-Catherine Est in the heart of Montreal's downtown core.

Notre-Boeuf-de-Grâce has been serving Montrealers since the burger joint first opened back in 2015. With some pretty stellar menu items ranging from mouthwatering burgers, a bangin' brunch and some delish starters including fried cheese curds, sexy tots and a purgatory pretzel, Notre-Boeuf-de-Grâce knows what they're doing. But do you?

Turns out the Montreal-based restaurant chain has a totally secret menu hidden and tucked away so that you'd never even think to check. Located on the flip side of the very first page of the menu are eight unique items just waiting to appease your tastebuds.

Le Burger Week 2022 definitely beefed things up across the 514 over the last two weeks with over 70 participating restaurants showcasing their juiciest burger creations. Nationally, with restaurants across Canada offering up limited edition burgers, one Montreal spot really stood out.

The local winner? Chez Simon Cantine Urbaine and its Le Classique Urbaine was a clear crowd pleaser.

With its Doritos burgers and its Cheetos-flavoured chicken tenders, Crusty's, an aptly-named new Montreal restaurant, is testing the limits of decency in the extra decadent, ultra-greasy fast food scene.

Located in N.D.G., this restaurant, which opened in autumn 2021, is the perfect place to go and pig out with your gang. If you ever watched the iconic Québécois show Occupation Double, the owners of Crusty's, Rym Nebbak and Chris Robins, were on the South Africa season.

Some people love pizza. Others love tacos. I, however, am a massive burger fan. That feeling when you first sink your teeth into this absolutely delish culinary creation, getting every layer and every flavour — it's pure magic.

While each burger is so different and so unique, one thing that's always true is that a burger is always so satisfying.
