Montreal has entered the "alert mode" of its flooding response plan (Plan particulier d’intervention) as water levels rise west of the island. In a Sunday, April 16, statement, officials said they expect flows to increase even more between April 17 and 18.

"Montreal is ready to make every effort to prepare for possible flooding," Alain Vaillancourt, Montreal executive committee member responsible for public security, said in the statement. "Our teams are ready to deploy the human, material and financial resources necessary to deal with any flooding."

Police say a 21-year-old man is "out of danger" following a stabbing Thursday night.

The incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m., when authorities received a 911 call about an injured person in a gas station parking lot. The Canadian Press reports the lot is on rue de Salaberry near the intersection with rue Marsan in Montreal's Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough.

Two people are dead after shootings in Montreal's Saint-Laurent and Ahuntsic-Cartierville boroughs Tuesday night. They represent Montreal Island's 16th and 17th homicides of 2022.

Police found the first victim after responding to a 911 call about possible gunfire on boulevard Jules-Poitras near the intersection with boulevard Deguire, near autoroute 15 in Saint-Laurent, at around 9:45 p.m., a Montreal police spokesperson told the media Wednesday morning.

Driving in Montreal has become more tumultuous lately, what with the huge sinkhole on Papineau and our always-interesting road rules. Now apparently even parking your car for the night may have its perils. A March 29 hit-and-run incident on a Montreal street left several cars damaged.

According to Officer Manuel Couture of the SPVM, the hit-and-run occurred around 10:45 p.m on Tuesday night. An unidentified driver crashed into multiple cars parked on the street in a residential area on rue Berri near rue Sauriol in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville.
