A recent ranking of the cities with the best quality of life in 2023 were ranked and not one, not two but five Canadian cities managed to make the cut. In fact, each Canadian destination that made the list appeared in the top 25, with one city ranking in the top 10.

Mercer, an American consulting firm, ranked a total of 241 cities from across five continents using a methodology developed by Mercer's team of professionals. The ranking assessed living conditions across the globe, taking into consideration factors such as housing, medical care, infrastructure, culture and recreation, education availability of goods and services, climate, sanitation and the prevalence of disease and violence.

The best bars in the world were recently ranked and Canada has much to be proud of. Despite not ranking in the top 100, a total of 14 Canadian bars from coast to coast managed to secure a spot on the esteemed list.

Top 500 Bars released its annual global ranking of the best bars in the world and Canada got some major love. "We aggregated the data from over two thousand sources on the web, in more than twenty languages. And we not only used the opinions of experts, journalists and influencers but also rankings, and reviews on platforms, social media and search engines to complete the set," Top 500 Bars wrote on its website.

As Montrealers, we know our city is a gem, but it's still sweet to get global recognition. Lonely Planet, in its golden anniversary edition, has ranked Montreal as the third-best global hotspot to visit in 2024. Not that we're counting, but this is the second time we've caught their eye since 2013. You'll also notice Toronto isn't on the list…

Factors for this year's high ranking include its stellar food scene, many festivals, cultural events, attractions like Mount Royal and Parc Jean-Drapeau, and array of art and museum exhibitions.
