When it comes to choosing where to travel this year, Montreal just might be one city worth adding to your travel bucket list and Euromonitor would agree.

Montreal is known for its renowned selection of restaurants, culture and arts scene and of course, a nightlife that no other Canadian city can compare to. Not to mention Montreal was recently ranked as one of the safest cities in Canada.

Euromonitor, a comprehensive guide to the most influential cities across the world released its annual ranking of the Top 100 City Destinations and Montreal made the list for the first time ever.

To compile the ranking, Euromonitor used a total of 55 different metrics across six key categories. The factors include economic and business performance, tourism and infrastructure, policy and attractiveness, as well as health, safety and sustainability.

While Paris took the top spot for the second year in a row, a slew of new cities made the cut in the 2023 ranking and Montreal was one of them.

The Canadian city ranked 68th overall, thanks to Montreal's improved tourism performance, Euromonitor said.

The top 10 was dominated by European cities, with a total of seven entries from the EU. In fact, the only non-European cities to have made the top 10 include Dubai (2), Tokyo (4), and New York City (8)

Euromonitor indicated that international travel is still making a strong recovery, with a 38% growth in terms of the number of trips, which is expected to reach 1.3 billion by the end of the year. Hong Kong and Bangkok both saw the biggest year-on-year growth in international arrivals.

Now, with Canada getting some much-deserved love, it appears as if Montreal could also see an increase in travel, considering it is one of the best cities in the world, after all.

Wondering which other global spots made the cut? Here's the complete top 20 of the 100 Best City Destinations, per Euromonitor:
