Montreal weather has been a bit all over the place the last few days. While we've recovered from heavy flooding across Montreal, residents aren't out of the thick of it just yet.
Environment Canada has officially issued a heat warning for Montreal as temps could exceed 30 degrees Celsius with humidex values hitting highs of 43.
According to The Weather Network, Montreal will see a high of 29 degrees Celsius with a "feels like" factor of 38. As for Tuesday, residents can expect a high of 27 degrees Celsius with a humidex value of 34.
Luckily, temps are expected to lower mid-week with Thursday reaching a daily high of 25 degrees C.
In the meantime, Montrealers will have to endure some hotter than usual days.
"A warm and humid air mass will give humidex values of 40 today," EnviroCan said. Furthermore, values could reach 43 in "highly urbanized areas" in and around Montreal.
Due to the excessively warm days ahead, the federal weather agency is urging residents to take proper precaution as extreme heat can impact everyone's health, with increased risks for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant individuals, people with physical or mental illnesses, and those with disabilities or mobility challenges.
Per EnviroCan, heat warnings are issued when exceptionally high temperatures or humidity levels are anticipated to significantly raise the risk of heat-related illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
It's best to stay indoors or in shaded places, especially during the afternoons, which is when UV levels reach its peak. Additionally, it's important to drink plenty of water regularly, even before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration, EnviroCan indicated.
If you are in an overheated area, seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, splash pad, misting station, or air-conditioned spot like a public building.
