Quebec Has A 'Smile Mountain' Less Than 2 Hours From MTL & The Views Explain Its Name

A hike up Mont-Sourire is sure to put a smile on your face.
Contributing Writer

Does going hiking always put a smile on your face? I can say without a doubt that a stroll up Quebec's Mont-Sourire (Smile Mountain) certainly would.

This mountain is only about an hour and 45-minute drive from Montreal, so it makes for the perfect little summer day trip.

Before you get going, check our Responsible Travel Guide so you can be informed, be safe, be smart, and most of all, be respectful on your trip.

Access to the mountain's hiking trail is completely free and once you reach the top, you arrive at one of the prettiest viewpoints in all of the province.

From the top of Mont-Sourire, you'll be able to see Lac Ouareau, Mont-Ouareau, Mont-Kaaïkop, and Montagne Noire in the distance.

Plus, it's a rather simple beginner's hike, so you won't be too exhausted to take in all the views surrounding you.
